DETECTIVES were today hunting five youths suspected of starting a £200,000 blaze at a Burnley company.

And the officer leading the investigation into the suspected arson at PD Global, Smallshaw Lane, off Accrington Road, today warned the culprits to hand themselves in before police came banging on their door.

Bosses at the firm, which makes pine furniture, were left counting the cost after a blaze started in two wagons full of stock ready for delivery on Saturday, just after 3.20pm.

Firefighters arrived to find the gates locked and had to climb over them to get into the yard. The blaze spread to a third wagon and firefighters fought to stop the fire spreading to the building.

But metal sheeting on the outside of the building conducted heat and started a small fire inside.

Two wagons, a Mercedes and an Iveco, were broken into prior to the fire and were left gutted.

Today Detective Inspector Sam Birtwell, of Burnley CID, said new information had come to light leading them to step up the hunt for the youths suspected of causing the blaze.

DI Birtwell said: "From our initial inquiries we suspect that the fire caused around £200,000 worth of damage. We suspect that five youths are involved.

"We are appealing for any or all of that group to come forward before we come knocking on their door." Anyone witnesses or anyone with information should contact Burnley Police on 01282 425001
