MORE pensioners had a flu jab in Blackburn with Darwen this winter, new figures show.
About 16,000 people in the borough had a flu injection, up three per cent on the previous year.
It means 75 per cent of OAPs in the borough were protected.
The figures, released by Blackburn with Darwen NHS Primary Care Trust, are five per cent above the national target of 70 per cent.
Public health consultant at the PCT, Dr Gifford Kerr, said: "The vaccination scheme we run which covers all care homes in Blackburn with Darwen ensures high levels of vaccination amongst some of our most vulnerable people.
"A total of 70 per cent of care home residents in the borough are over 80 years old."
The increase was the same for Burnley, Pendle and Rossendale, health chiefs announced last month.
Nearly 28,300 of the 38,000 over 65s got the injection.
