CHILDREN from a Nelson primary school have been helping to brighten up Walverden Park.
For the Walverden Primary School pupils, along with park rangers and the Friends of Walverden Park have planted a variety of shrubs to help make it more attractive to visitors.
The Friends of Walverden Park organised the event in conjunction with Pendle Council in an effort to continue to involve children in the upkeep of Pendle's parks.
Coun Mahboob Ahmed, executive member for parks, said the activity was good for people as well as the park.
He said: "Events like these are a great opportunity for the community to get involved in keeping Pendle's parks looking as good as they possibly can.
"It also gives people in the area a chance to see and hear about how the parks are maintained and what part they can play in keeping them clean and tidy and that it can be fun."
Keith Chadwick, chairman of the Friends of Walverden Park, added: "This is a further step forward in achieving some of our aims for regenerating the park with the involvement of Walverden School."
