A HUSBAND who beat his wife with a mop handle has been warned that he faces jail if he repeats the behaviour.
Waqas Ahmed, 24, of Hozier Street, Blackburn, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to eight months imprisonment, suspended for two years.
He will also be supervised by the probation service for two years.
He was told by Judge Robert Brown at Preston Crown Court: "You have beaten your wife for the last time without going to prison."
The court was told that Ahmed caused severe injuries to his wife Shaida and she would probably be scarred to the cheek.
She also sustained bruising to her legs and hands and marks were left on her legs.
The court heard Mrs Ahmed seemed to have forgiven her husband.
Philip Potter, prosecuting, told the court the attack took place last October 26. He said there was a history of violence in the marriage.
She was punched in the face and then thrown on a couch and kicked.
