A YOUNG writer is set to record one of his poems about his favourite sounds for a BBC 7 Radio show.
Casey Holland, eight, is one of six children in the country being asked to read his poem entitled "Ear This" on children's radio programme The Big Toe.
Casey said: "I am amazed to win but really excited."
The Sound Story competition organised by producers from the radio show asked children to write about sounds.
Casey, a year four student at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour RC Primary School, Blackburn, wrote about some of his favourite and least favourite sounds.
He likes motorbike horns and squeaky balloons but does not enjoy noisy baboons or silent darkness. He will travel to London with his mum and uncle to read his poem, or have a presenter do it for him, and collect his prize, a digital radio.
The show airs on April 20.
His headteacher, Kathleen Downham, was delighted: "We are really proud of Casey's achievement."
He also won a brand new digital radio prize for his efforts.
