PUPILS from Darwen Vale High School will tomorrow put their leadership skills to the test.
Year-10 pupils undertaking their junior sports leaders award and a BTEc leadership course have organised a sports festival for pupils from six local primary schools as part of the scheme.
They will be assisted by a team of year-eight pupils who hope to become sports leaders when they are in year 10.
The year-10 leaders will supervise and officiate at a range of events at Darwen Vale's sports hall where their performance will be assessed as part of their qualification.
Year-five pupils from Avondale, St Cuthbert's, St Aidan's, Tockholes, The Redeemer and St James Lower Darwen primary schools will attend to take part in activities.
Team names for the afternoon will be Courage, Endurance, Tenacity, Agile, Swift, Power, Persistence and Force.
Pupils will do various activities such as a hand-eye co-ordination test, balance test, co-ordination-based races, strength tests and jumping, and the best at each will receive certificates.
The event, organised with Blackburn with Darwen Council's School Sports Partnership, starts at 1.15pm and aims to increase physical activity in schools.
