The Queen will become the Colonel-in-Chief of the new Duke of Lancaster's Regiment when it is formed on July 1.
The new regiment will be launched following the merger of the Queen's Lancashire Regiment, the King's Regiment and the King's Own Royal Border Regiment.
The Queen is already the Colonel-in-Chief of The Queen's Lancashire Regiment.
Brigadier Geoff Sheldon, of The QLR, said he was delighted with the appointment of the Queen at the head of the new regiment.
