A BURNLEY man who gave up his job to look after his sick father in Northern Ireland has died in a road accident.
Police have made an appeal for witnesses after the body of 36-year-old Kiernan Connor was found at the roadside on the Ederney Road, Lack, co Fermanagh, in the early hours of last Friday morning.
The dead man, whose father lives in Kesh, lived in Harle Syke with his partner, Nicky and their 8-year old daughter, Shauna. He was a civil engineer and worked with his older brother, Andrew.
Eniskillen Inspector Ian Kennedy described last Friday's road traffic collision as a tragedy'.
The body was found around 4am by a passing motorist who raised the alarm. The collision occurred on the Kesh to Ederney road.
Insp Kennedy said: "Mr Connor is believed to have been walking home after failing to get a taxi to take him to Kesh from Ederney. He was struck by an Astra car, and police would like to speak to anyone who may have seen this vehicle earlier in the evening, or who may have either witnessed the collision or come across the scene."
Police said one man was helping them with their inquiries.
Mr Connor's funeral took place last week. He leaves his partner, Nicky and his daughter, Shauna, his parents, Dennis Edward and Margaret, his brother, Andrew and his grandmothers, Eileen Scallon, Boa Island and Marian Walsh. He is further survived by his uncle, Keith Walsh and by his aunts, Julie, Joan, Margaret, Helen and Josephine.
