TWO teenagers arrested on suspicion of starting a fire at Darwen Vale High School have been cautioned by the police.
The year 10 boys, both aged 14, were arrested on suspicion of arson and endangering lives earlier this month.
Firefighters were called to the school, in Blackburn Road, after staff saw smoke coming from outside the building.
It was discovered that some paper had been pushed into a gap in the wall and set on fire during a morning break.
The boys were questioned by police in Darwen and the school launched its own investigation into the circumstances of the fire.
Sergeant Mark Vaughton, of Darwen CID, said: "Whereas adults are given police cautions, there are three different degrees of cautions for children.
"One of the 14-year-old boys was given a reprimand and the other a final warning."
Headteacher Lynn Dunning said: "The school carried out a full investigation and both pupils have been dealt with appropriately."
