DISABLED people and the over 60s who use buses to get around Pendle will be able to claim free bus travel from April 1.
From next month, NoWcard, the area's concessionary travel fare scheme, is to be improved, offering better travel discounts.
The changes mean that journeys that start and end in Pendle won't cost a penny for holders of the NoWcard travel passes.
People with a NoWcard will be able to claim free bus travel around Pendle after 9.30am on weekdays, and all day at weekends and Bank Holidays.
Journeys before 9.30am on weekdays, will be half price to NoWcard holders, as at present.
The changes from next month also make journeys outside of Pendle cheaper.
Trips into neighbouring council areas will be free up to the Pendle boundary after 9.30am. Then, from the Pendle boundary to the final destination, fares will be half price.
Return journeys will be half price to the Pendle boundary, and then free.
Leaflets detailing the changes are being sent to current pass holders and will be available from information centres at the end of the month.
Qualifying residents disabled people and the over 60s who have not yet got a NoWcard pass should contact Heather Holden on 01282 661839.
