Sparks' vital statistics speak for themselves - 36 years making music, 20 albums but only 3 top 10 singles.
If the Mael brothers feel aggrieved at their electro trailblazing being largely overlooked, they don't show it on the chipper new single Perfume.
Neatly threading together 30 perfume brands with 30 girls' names, it swings like a cocksure Broadway musical, lightly adorned with twinkling pianos.
But most importantly for a Sparks record, it makes absolutely no sense at all.
Released February 13, 2006.
