Their last single, Mercy Me, strayed dangerously towards manufactured pop-punk territory, but this new release from Chicago rockers Alkaline Trio is a satisfying return to serious head banging, death-obsessed action.
A sinister, rather industrial intro is blown apart by a catchy, upbeat chorus that, in true Trio style, contrasts well with the broody lyrics "Intending to burn, pretending to fight it, everyone learns faster on fire."
Even the remixes pass muster, with a haunting, jittery, noise cut from 65daysofstatic standing out, and a reggae mix from Rancid's Tim Armstrong kicking proceedings down a gear.
