GREG Pope has launched a campaign to make sure the library building in Church Kirk is saved for community use following its closure.
Lancashire County Council has voted to shut the library and eight other similar small ones across the county.
It ignored a plea from Hyndburn MP Mr Pope to think again about the Church branch.
But now he wants the building to be kept in use once the books have been gone.
Mr Pope said: "I am disappointed the county has decided to close the library.
"The Church Kirk is a relatively isolated area with many elderly people. The library was a valuable resource."
