RIBBLE Valley MP Nigel Evans has warned that small, independent shops may disappear unless action is taken to save them.
The Tory MP, who owns a convenience store in his home city of Swansea, fears supermarkets could squeeze them out of existence.
He spoke out after a group of MPs predicted the corner shop could be a thing of the past by 2015.
The warning came from the All-Party Parliament-ary Group for Small Shops of which Mr Evans is vice-chairman.
