A 23-year-old Darwen man found himself back behind bars just hours after being released from prison.
And Blackburn magistrates heard it was not the first time freedom celebrations had cost James Gorman his liberty.
Andrew Church-Taylor, defending, said that after serving seven months of a prison sentence, Gorman had been released on licence.
"He had only been in the community for three days when there was an incident involving his partner and he was returned to prison," said Mr Church-Taylor.
"He served ten and a half months and came home to his mother's house yesterday.
"He accepts he had been drinking heavily when he got involved in an argument with his mother and his sister and the police eventually had to take him away."
Gorman, of Heys Lane, Darwen, admitted a breach of the peace and was bound over in £50 to keep the peace for 12 months.
