FIVE East Lancashire schools and colleges hailed as "outstanding" by government inspectors have been championed at an awards ceremony.
As we revealed in December, Clitheroe Pendle Primary School; Chatburn CE Primary School; Nelson and Colne College; Burnley College; and St Mary's College, Blackburn were among 457 on the Office for Standards in Education's outstanding list'.
The list salutes establishments which "have no important weaknesses" and which provide "excellent quality and a consistently high standard of education".
Certificates of achieve-ment were handed out by Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools, Maurice Smith at a ceremony hosted by Ofsted at the Lowry Centre, Salford.
Those attending included headteacher at Chatburn, Robert Maude who said: "Schools, just like the pupils in them, thrive on praise. Chatburn School feels very proud."
