Lancashire will lead the way next week as it unveils a new approach to local policing.

The Neighbourhood Policing Programme is a key part of the Government's police reform agenda and while every police force in the country will implement it, Lancashire will be the first to introduce it to every area of the force.

Acting assistant chief constable Mike Cunningham said: "It is about providing people with high-quality policing services people can see and easily access in their local area.

"It gives them a structured and regular means of having their say on how their area is policed and a way of influencing our priorities, while making sure that we provide feedback on what we've done.

"The neighbourhood policing teams are dedicated to getting things done' in their area, are visible and easy to contact by phone, local meetings, or though the internet.

"There will also continue to be a monthly PACT meeting in every neighbourhood where people have the opportunity to come and tell their local team what concerns."

Mobile surgeries will be held in Blackburn at Tesco on February 13, Morrisons on February 14 and Asda on February 15, 10am to 4pm, at Darwen Sainsburys on Thursday 16 and Friday 17, from 4pm to 6pm, at Accrington Town Hall on February 16 between 3pm and 7.30pm.
