HOUSE music is back in Blackburn! That's the message from the town's newest nightclub promoter, who is launching his night on February 18.
Evolution Lounge will, Ben Slaven has promised, offer up something new for Blackburn.
It will be held in The Works, in Northgate, every Saturday, with a special launch event planned for the first night.
Ben, from Wilpshire, hopes to attract a crowd which traditionally has to travel outside the area.
He said: "It is going to be very much a House music night and we want to use mainly local DJs, who some people will already know and others who they don't.
"The Works is already known in Blackburn but the venue, part of FJ Nicholls, now has new management and they have given us the club to book DJs on Friday and Saturday nights.
"I've taken advice from friends who run nights professionally and they think there is a market for it here."
Another aim is recreate the vibe of the old Cubes venue in nearby Duke Street, which closed several years ago but which was very well-known for its House music.
To that end, former Cubes resident Damian Lee is on the bill for the opening night.
And Ben intends to use his contacts to pull in DJs from Manchester too.
On the opening-night bill is Matt Lightfoot (Venus, Sankeys, Emporia), Denby and Holt from the old Mish Mash nights, Paul J and Mr Beige from house.me, down&dirty.
Ben added: "I want to bring in DJs from Manchester and deliver a line-up of DJs which have graced the decks at club nights such as Ampersand, Venus, Sankeys Soap and Gatecrasher.
"We're doing it every week so we hope to get established quickly."
Admission is free and the night runs from 10pm until 4am.
