MY mother always says it's the quiet ones you have to watch and the same approach can be taken to the humble takeaway.

From the outside there's nothing particularly special about the Dragon Inn which oocupies a corner spot on a busy main road.

But don't be deceived. The Dragon Inn doesn't shout about it, but it offers a first rate takeaway.

The amount of choice on offer is good with over 270 different dishes on the menu although these do include that well known Oriental delicacy, the sausage dinner!

After due deliberation I decided to have the sweet and sour chicken while I ordered the beef with satay sauce for the better half.

With two portions of boiled rice the bill came to £8.80.

The meals were prepared in double quick time in the back kitchen and soon I headed home.

Sweet and sour can either be a delight or a disaster.

Done badly you get a horribly congealed and stodgy mess.

Thankfully, the Dragon knows how to prepare a good sweet and sour.

Delicate pieces of chicken sat in a tangy sauce with a wide array of fresh vegetables.

Perhaps the sauce could have had just a tad more zing' but that's a minor quibble.

The beef dish was pronouned to be excellent with tender, thin strips of beef in a hot and spicy sauce and, again, plenty of fresh vegetables.
