A DRUNKEN man arrested for causing trouble left two police officers injured after a "mighty struggle", a court was told.
Binge drinker Mohammad Qasim Bhatti, 23, could not recollect what he had done and Burnley magistrates heard how he seemed to have "gone off the rails" a little bit.
The defendant, of Abel Street, Burnley, admitted using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and two counts of police assault, in January.
He was given a 12 months community order with 100 hours unpaid work and must pay £50 compensation.
He was told by the bench to keep up appointments with an alcohol counsellor to try and beat his "silly binge drinking".
Carl Gaffney, prosecuting, told the court the defendant was arrested for a public order offence.
Two police officers were left grazed when they were pushed into a wall.
Bhatti did not throw punches, strike blows or headbutt the officers.
Richard Taylor, defending, said Bhatti accepted he behaved poorly.
When he was not in drink he was charming and intelligent but once he had taken drink there were problems.
