CHORLEY MP Lindsay Hoyle has urged a ban on the import of Brazilian beef.
The Labour backbencher said it was cruelly produced and led to slave labour. He tackled Animal Welfare Minister Ben Bradshaw on the issue in the Commons.
Mr Hoyle said: "I presume you will be aware of the dangers of importing beef from Brazil, where slave labour is used to clear forests and produce very cheap beef at the expense of British farming."
Mr Bradshaw said: "My honourable friend may be pleased to hear the recent outbreaks of foot and mouth disease in Brazil have caused British imports of Brazilian beef to fall in recent months."
