Union Jack-clad hip hop MC and producer Sway - Derek Safo to his mum - seems keen on keeping it British on his feverishly anticipated debut album.
There's no praise for guns, blunts or hos as MOBO-winning North Londoner Sway raps about politics, illegal file-sharing, wife-beating and city life.
Don't get the wrong idea, though: Sway may let loose with intelligent, serious subject matter, but his lyrics are infused with irony and occasionally laugh-out-loud humour.
Tracks with a diverse range of musical influences showcase his distinctive vocal talents, from the Tommy-gun delivery on This Is My Demo to the love-it or hate-it melodrama of Pretty Ugly Husband.
The only frustration is the ultra-smooth, American-influenced production on several songs, which could leave some disappointed.
Still, the R&B grooves will fill dancefloors and help Sway climb the charts, and the more people that get to hear this outstanding artist the better.
Released 6 February, 2006.
