Concerned staff at Mothercare World, Blackburn, alerted police about a man sitting on the car park.
Blackburn magistrates heard when police searched Darren Cain they found a syringe containing amphetamine.
Cain, 34, of Pennine Road, Bacup, pleaded guilty to possession of amphetamine, a Class B drug, and possession of amphetamine in a syringe, a Class A drug.
He was made subject to a community supervision order and ordered to pay £50 costs.
Bill Grice, defending, said: "He was in the car park but he wasn't exhibiting the syringe in public."
