A COMMUNITY group is searching for the a new home so it can expand.

And Rossendale Open Door wants other community groups to join it in its new home.

The Christian project has been based at Kay Street Baptist Church, Rawtenstall, since April 2005.

But it can only operate one a day a week because other groups use the site.

Chairwoman Carole Westerman said the new base would help the group expand its services to include free donations of furniture to the needy and being able to make food parcels.

She said: "We have been open since April last year and it is going quite well.

"But at the minute we cannot use the site more than one day a week because it is used for a lot of other things so we are looking for a new building.

"What we want all the other churches to be able to come together and work for the community."

The group is run by a team of volunteers on Mondays between 10am and 2pm It is always on the look out for new helpers. Anyone can go along and enjoy a bowl of soup with a roll and home-made cakes in a friendly, non-judgemental atmosphere.
