BOSSES of a Burnley nightspot Lava and Ignite have assured clubbers it has a bright future.

Luminar Leisure, which owns the club, announced this week it was considering closing a number of its venues after a drop in trading.

But Lava and Ignite appears safe for now.

Luminar blamed its Jumpin' Jaks bars for an eight per cent decline in the five weeks to January 2.

However, a spokesman for the company said: "We have absolutely no problem with Lava and Ignite in Burnley.

"It was previously run by a manager who won many trade awards and it has continued in that vein since he left to run one of our flagship venues in Leeds."

And the Blackburn nightclub, which was rebranded Liquid and Envy and refurbished before re-opening in December, has also escaped possible closure. Analysts say new licensing laws could also be to blame for the fall in profit.

But Luminar and other East Lancashire entertainment venues said today that 24-hour drinking has had little impact on their businesses.

The spokesman added: "It's gone the other way for us. We have reported excellent results and we've had good feedback from the police from most of the towns and cities in the country." And Ross Dalton, assistant manager at The Walkabout, Burnley, said it had made no difference.

He said: "We're stoked until 2am pretty much every week, the same as we were before the new laws. We're possibly even going to extend the licence in future but we're as busy as ever."

Nobody from the Circulation nightclub was available not comment.
