IT'S the chance most bedroom DJs dream of getting to play in front of a large crowd, week in, week out.
Now one of East Lancashire's largest clubs, Heaven and Hell in Blackburn, is offering bedroom DJs exactly that chance.
Throughout next month, the club will be hosting Bedroom DJ of 2006 in the hope of uncovering some exciting new DJ talent.
And the club's general manager, Adele Lord, knows more than most just how imporant that big break can be.
She said: "Before I started a management career I was a dance DJ, playing in clubs such as Bowlers at Trafford Park and Angels in Burnley.
"It is really difficult to get your first break into the industry and I would like to offer young hopefuls the opportunity to get their feet in the door.
"I am sure there is some fantastic raw talent out there and I can't wait to see who will be crowned Bedroom DJ of 2006."
Would-be mixers are asked to get in touch with the club to book in their slot in February, when the competition heats start.
Hopeful DJs should send in a mix on either CD or vinyl and the ability to use a microphone is not essential.
Dance music types for the competition can range across genres from Funky House to Trance, though DJs are being requested to keep within one set genre so that the programming of the night can be carried out.
The winner of the competition will be rewarded with a warm-up residency at the venue, vouchers for local records shops and tuition from current resident DJs.
The winner will also have their own night at Heaven and Hell on a date to be confirmed where their name would be printed on flyers and posters and they will perform a one-hour guest spot at the peak time in Hell, alongside new resident DJ David Garthwaite.
David, who was resident of clubbing brand Gatecrasher, met nightclub bosses after being drafted in to cover on Boxing Night in the dance room.
After dazzling the revellers with his high-energy approach, new boss Adele decided it was time to make a change.
Dave, who started out as a DJ at the age of 13, got his break by asking managers of an under 18s disco in Sunderland if he could have a go at showing off his mixing skills.
After weeks of persistence, teen operators Future Clubbing Events gave in and let Dave have his first shot at clubland mixing.
After four years of being taken under their wing, Dave made debut appearances across the UK, including large branded events such as Sundissential and Crasher Classics.
He has also played at clubs in cities such as Leeds, Birmingham and London.
Adele said: "I have met Dave previously at large clubbing events and he is said to be one of the biggest up-and-coming DJs of 2005.
"I managed to get him in on Boxing Night and was amazed with the results.
"I had so much positive response from customers and staff about his DJing that I knew we had to get him in on a more permanent basis.
"Dave was thrilled with the night, loved Blackburn and has cancelled all of his 2006 gigs to come and play for us every Friday and Saturday night in Hell.
"If anyone missed Boxing Night I am sure that they will have heard about it.
"It was one of the best atmospheres in any club I have been in and I can't wait to have more of the same every weekend."
