A BANNED driver caught behind the wheel told police he thought his ban was over, but it still had six days to run, a court was told.
Alexander Patrick Gough, 32, who was stopped on January 12, said he thought he could get back on the road on the eighth, but his ban ran out on the 18th.
He told Burnley magistrates he had made a "genuine mistake".
Gough, of Claremont Street, Brierfield, admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance.
He was given a community order with a curfew, between 10pm and 6am, for six weeks.
The bench told Gough they were not banning him again, but put six points on his licence.
