POLICE are carrying out a raid a day to rid Burnley neighbour-hoods of suspected criminals.
As part of an offensive against suspected drug dealers, burglars and louts causing anti-social behaviour, officers are raiding at least one property in the borough each day to clean up Burnley's estates.
And Inspector Damian Darcy said that in the last two weeks of the zero-tolerance crackdown officers had executed more than 20 warrants, six of which were done this week.
In the latest incident a chocolate egg believed to be containing wraps of heroin was seized.
He said: "This is all about disrupting criminal activity and putting the criminal fraternity on the back foot.
"We are taking the fight to people we suspect of committing crimes and the message is clear criminal behaviour will not be tolerated."
The crackdown an extension of Operation Frustrate and which involves armed police, and other specialist units comes on the back of high profile drugs busts in November when 21 people were arrested.
On Tuesday officers swooped on a house in Albert Street, seizing the chocolate egg.
A woman in her early 20s was arrested on suspicion of being involved in the supply of controlled drugs and bailed pending forensic tests.
And on Monday addresses in Harold Street, Parkinson Street, Branch Road, Laithe Street and Scott Street were busted.
Insp Darcy said much of the information for the raids came from feedback from residents and appealed for anyone who suspected any criminal wrongdoing in their neighbourhood to contact police.
He added: "If people are aware of criminal activity in their area or see anyone acting suspiciously then we want to hear about it."
Anyone with information should contact Burnley police on 01282 425001.
