A WIND farm could be built on the moors above Todmorden if planning permission is given for a single mast to be erected in the area to test suitability.
Calderdale's planning department has received an application from energy company Coronation Power.
The company's community relations manager Paul Taylor said it was hoped to use the test mast for between 12 and 18 months.
He added:"We intend to share our plans with local people including Todmorden Town Council and Todmorden Moor Restoration Trust.
"We will listen to their views and other members of the community before any planning application is made."
The site, between Todmorden and Bacup, will undergo an in-depth study before a decision is made to determine whether or not to apply to Calderdale Council for full planning permission.
