IRISH music classes for adults are being held in Rossendale to commemorate the centenary of the death of a radical humanitarian who once lived in Haslingden.
The classes are part of a series of cultural and educational events planned to mark the death of Michael Davitt one of the great figures in Irish History.
Davitt and his family were evicted from their home in County Mayo in 1850 and emigrated to Haslingden.
Davitt dedicated his life to fighting for the rights of the underprivileged.
Arthur Marriott is organising and taking part in the music classes. He said: "Even if people have never played before they can join in and learn an instrument as the course is for beginners. They don't need an instrument."
Classes will be held at All Saints' Catholic Language College on Wednesday, January 25, from 7 to 9pm.
You can book through East Lancashire Adult Learning on 0845 056 1886 or call Arthur on 01706 226909.
The cost is £50, but is free for people on benefits, unwaged or pension credits.
