A FAULTY electrical heater started a fire in the offices of a community group in Pendle.
Fire crews were called to the headquarters of Pendle Pakistan Welfare Association (PPWA), Nelson, around 1.45pm yesterday.
Fire crews said an electrical fault in the heater started the blaze in offices on the first floor of the building in Market Square.
The building was closed because workers were at lunch and nobody was injured in the incident.
The blaze caused fire damage to an area of carpet and smoke damage to walls.
Raza Yasin, operations manager for PPWA, said he was waiting for an electrician to assess the damage but he expected the offices to be open today.
He added: "A lot of our contact with clients takes place downstairs so that won't be affected and we have a spare office so we will relocate the computers from the affected office in there.
"We are hoping everything will be back to normal. "
