HYNDBURN Council is to improve pavements in Oswaldtwistle for the elderly and disabled after complaints.
Elderly people living in Springfield Mews sheltered housing, who use mobility scooters, were having problems because of the lack of dropped kerbs.
On Simpson Street, Oak Street and Union Road, the council will now be putting in new dropped kerbs and lowering some existing ones that were causing difficulties.
Glynis Barlow, scheme manager at Springfield Mews, said: "This will make such a difference to people who use wheelchairs or scooters.
"Before some areas were literally no-go zones for them, so this work will make a huge difference to their quality of life."
