AN Oswaldtwistle pub will be extending its opening hours despite objections from residents.
The New Inn, in Thomas Street, had applied to open until 12.30am on Thursdays, midnight on Sunday, and 1.30am on Fridays and Saturdays.
But because of residents' concerns, Hyndburn Council's licensing sub-committee, said it would only permit the pub to extend its opening hours to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
Mark Harrison, of Thomas Street, was one of eight people who wrote to the council objecting to the plans.
He said: "I and residents opposite have had trouble from this pub for the past few years."
Martin Bottomley and Kerry Wilcock, also of Thomas Street, said their baby's sleep was being disturbed by pub noises.
They told the committee: "We have a nine-month-old baby who is not sleeping well at all due to the noise, karaoke, horns sounding, arguing and fighting."
After the meeting Coun Ann Scaife, chairman of the licensing sub-committee, said: "The New Inn is close to residential properties, but we have been able to reach a compromise with the applicants, which they seemed fine about."
