A SERIES of events are set to take place in Haslingden this year to mark the centenary of the death of Michael Davitt.
Irish Heritage In Haslingden Committee has organised the events to mark the milestone anniversary of Mr Davitt, an Irish immigrant who lived in Haslingden and later rose to great international fame through his political connections.
The events aim to re-kindle customs and traditions and will involve people across Rossendale in music, theatre and even Irish language lessons.
The programme of events includes An Irish in Haslingden' exhibition at Rossendale Museum, Whitaker Park, Rawtenstall, from February 1 to 26, Celtic story-telling sessions on February 6 and 7 and a Reserach Your Irish Ancestry day on February 18.
