POLICE were today trying to establish the identity of a body found close to a moorland reservoir.
The body of the man was discovered by a group of walkers slumped next to a wall close to Clowbridge Reservoir, Manchester Road, Burnley at around 3.30pm yesterday .
Police believe the body could be that of a missing person from the West Yorkshire area. However, they are still waiting to formally identify the body.
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "We were called to the location close to the reservoir yesterday afternoon after a group of walkers discovered the body.
"The male body has not yet been formally identified but we believe he could be from the West Yorkshire area."
Detectives cordoned off the area to allow forensic tests to be carried out but later concluded there were no suspicious circumstances.
A post mortem examination is due to be carried out by a Home Office Pathologist.
