VICTIMS of a suspected bogus official in Great Harwood are being urged to come forward after police recovered £1,000.
A man was arrested in the town on the suspicion of theft after several distraction burglaries in which a man had pretended to be an official to con his way into people's homes and steal money.
But officers believe there maybe other people who had been conned but were too embarrassed to report it to the police.
Det Con Geoff McCann said they found £1,000 in a carrier bag but the man had refused to say where it had come from.
He added: "We believe the money we found in his possession might have come from distraction burglaries.
"We are hoping anyone in the area who might have recently suffered from such a crime will come forward and speak to us.
"It would not only help us in our inquiries but could possibility lead to the return of stolen cash."
Call Great Harwood police on 01254 353334.
