A CAMPAIGN group has written to Lancashire county council objecting to the site of one of the flagship schools earmarked for Burnley as part of a huge £250 million overhaul of education.
Towneley for the People has sent a letter to planning bosses setting out their reasons for opposing the building of Unity College on land at Towneley Park.
Objections include building on parkland, flood risk, and the site being too remote for community use.
The group is calling for a public inquiry into the plans which they claim will ruin Burnley's jewel in the crown.' Towneley for the People has joined forces with Fulledge Action Community Team to fight the plans, which are set to be opposed by borough councillors when they meet tomorrow.
However, the council cannot reject the plans because a final decision will be made by LCC.
