If you are the kind of person who ducks behind the sofa or the nearest cushion at the mere thought of a horror film, then a new stage production coming the Preston's Guild Hall could be just the show for you.
Comedy duo LipService, made up of Maggie Fox and Sue Ryding, will appear at the Lancaster Road venue on Friday, January 20-21, in Horror for Wimps.
The play shows bored couple, Keith and Jeanette, who channel hop between different horror film like Frankenstein to an oddly placed Delia Smith cookery programme to try and tone down the effects of watching a scary film.
Sue said: "Keith is just technology mad and they have this new huge television and he's read the instruction manual and knows everything there is to know about it inside out.
"But Jeanette just thinks it's a tv and just wants to watch the show. They are a very funny couple."
The LipService pair, who have played in Preston numerous times, decided to spend a few weeks watching a catalogue of classic horror films to prepare for the show.
Sue, who formed LipService with Maggie in 1985, said: "We made sure all the ones we watched were during the day so we wouldn't feel more scared.
"I've always been a bit of a horror wimp but I thought it was good fun because I had my pillow to hide behind.
"We've been to Preston a lot of times now and we're really looking forward tom coming back because it's always a really great crowd and we're always well received."
Horror For Wimps is at the Guild Hall in Preston on Friday, January 20 and Saturday, January 21. Tickets are £14 on 01772 258858.
