ARTWORK by a Darwen school may soon be seen by the Prince of Wales and John Prescott.

Calendars featuring the work of pupils at Sudell Primary School will be sent to the pair as part of the Children Dream of Pennine Lancashire project.

The eight and nine-year-olds worked with artist Pat Southern to create their own aspirational images for the area they live in.

The project was run by Elevate, East Lancashire's housing market renewal pathfinder, and Design East Lancashire, part of the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, in partnership with Mid Pennine Arts.

It involved six schools in areas earmarked for housing market renewal under the Elevate scheme.

Kathleen Reagan Houghton, of Elevate, said: "The images and ideas generated by the children are very interesting and will certainly be taken into consideration when planning the renewal programme for the area.

"Calendars will also be sent to both the Prince of Wales and the Deputy Prime Minister, who have both expressed great interest in the project."

Sudell headteacher Laura Pooles said: "The calendar looks absolutely fantastic."
