AN 18-YEAR-OLD Clitheroe girl who breached an Anti-Social Behaviour Order six weeks after it was imposed has been jailed for 16 weeks.

Blackburn magistrates heard that Rachel Linford was found in Clitheroe town centre in breach of a curfew, under the influence of drink, and with a man she was prohibited from associating with.

Magistrates said they had no alternative but to send her to a youth offending institute because of her total disregard for the order.

Linford, of Siddows Avenue, pleaded guilty to three breaches of the order. Claire Fanning, prosecuting, said the ASBO was made against Linford in May after she was convicted of five offences of assault, criminal damage, failing to surrender to bail, and resisting a police officer. On December 14, a town centre CCTV monitor revealed Linford was in the town centre, in breach of her curfew.

Gareth Price, defending, said there was no suggestion Linford had committed any further offences.

He said she had a row with her sister, whose house she was living in as a condition of the ASBO, and had decided to leave.

She had telephoned Securicor, who were monitoring her curfew, informed them of the situation and put forward an alternative address in Blackburn.

"Securicor approved that move and if she had gone straight to Blackburn, there would have been no problem," said Mr Price.

"Unfortunately, she came into Clitheroe centre to meet her boyfriend and then missed her train."
