YOUNGSTERS in Colne will soon be able to find out more easily what activities are available for them.
A directory of all free and low-cost activities is being put together by the recently-established Colne Youth Forum.
Activities will include, among others, those organised by local youth groups, churches, Cubs, Scouts, Guides and Brownies. The directory will be published on the web and will therefore be accessible via mobile phones with internet access.
Andre Pomfret, manager of Colne Neighbourhood Manage-ment Team, said: "We have found that there are not many such activities available for people under 19 in Colne and even those that are available are not well-known by many people.
"The directory will highlight what is available on any evening for young people and encourage them to get involved. In the longer term, we will work with local groups to provide more activities."
The neighbourhood management team has been working in conjunction with Colne Connected, the local market town partnership, to establish the Colne Youth Forum. Consultation with young people via youth clubs has taken place.
The forum brings together all providers of services for young people in Colne, including Lancashire County Council's Youth and Community Services. Work of Colne Neighbourhood Management Team is overseen by Colne Neighbourhood Action Group made up of local people and groups.
Coun Alan Davies, chair of Colne Neighbourhood Action Group, said: "One of the big aims of the forum is to highlight and publicise activities for young people during next year's school holidays and to make sure there are as many activities as possible for young people to enjoy and benefit from."
The forum meets every two months. More information available from Colne Neighbour-hood Management Team on 01282 871747.
