Blackburn Rovers boss Mark Hughes was understandably delighted with his side's ninth home win of the season in the Premiership.
And he believes the belief his players will have gained from both the result and performance can only stand them in good stead for the rest of the season.
"At the moment we are in a good position," said Hughes.
"We've now got a huge game next week against Tottenham.
"If we can rein them in then we can all start getting excited, but there's still a long way to go.
"The important thing (on Saturday) was that we got real belief that we can actually do what we are trying to do.
"It was important that we came out and made a statement, and I think we did that.
"We are very much of the view that we are one of the better sides in this league and we proved that again on Saturday."
