VALE of Lune produced another emphatic performance to run in eight tries against bottom club Widnes with another display of free flowing rugby.
Winger James Curran collected four quality tries with the remainder being shared by the hard working mobile forwards; Lee Farnworth, Daniel Baines, Phil Watson and Malcolm Fowler. Stand off Andrew Barnett converted four in a game which saw prop forward Phil Jackson make his 150th Vale appearance.
Unfortunately lock forward Farnworth suffered a knee injury in the first half and could well miss the remainder of the season and another blow on an otherwise great day was a bad cut to the head of prop Andrew Sutcliffe, who had to leave the action in the second half in order to receive several stitches.
After two convincing victories in the league, during which time the Vale have amassed 135 points, the locals face a stern examination at home to North One side West Park St Helens in the second round of the Lancashire Cup on Saturday.
That Powder House Lane clash kicks off at 1pm with spectators urged toi get along an support the locals.
