Wyre's faded seaside facilities could soon be a thing of the past as the borough welcomes its new "Seafront Supremo".
Former council Leisure Development Manager, Grant Sellers, is now responsible for managing the regeneration of the currently "rundown" seafront facilities between Fleetwood and Cleveleys.
Grant, who is moving from his previous base at Poulton's Civic Centre to the Marine Hall, Fleetwood, will also be in charge of developing new business opportunities to improve the seafront's earning potential and introducing a crackdown on vandalism and other problems.
His appointment follows a recent decision by a "Task Group" of Wyre councillors to create a more efficient way of dealing with seafront leisure and tourism issues.
Wyre's Head of Cultural, Leisure and Tourist Services, Tom Pridmore said: "The whole of the Wyre waterfront is important for recreation and tourism and the aim will be to build on what we already have and try to improve it."
Council leader, Cllr Russell Forsyth added: "Tourism is an important part of Wyre's economy and seafront areas are important for leisure, too.
"I believe we are taking a positive step forward with this new appointment."
