A BURNLEY man hanged himself after taking amphetamines following the collapse of his marriage.
An inquest heard Paul Hill was found hanging from the bannister at his Admiral Street home on October 25 last year.
His father, Jack Hill, told the hearing that following the break-up of his marriage a month earlier his son had become depressed.
Mr Hill, who also said his son had money troubles, told the court he last saw the 33-year-old on October 23 and could not contact him when he tried phoning the next day.
The inquest was told a friend had called at Mr Hill's house on October 24 but got no answer despite the lights and TV being on.
Martin Brindle said the next day he called police and discovered Mr Hill when he broke in through a window.
A post mortem examination found Mr Hill had taken high levels of the drug before he hanged himself.
Recording a verdict that Mr Hill took his own life, East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor said: "Those he knew and loved him could not have envisaged the reaction he would take.
"He took some drugs and did a very deliberate act which was to hang himself."
