A SLOGAN thought up by a Burnley matron is to go on posters throughout hospitals in the country urging patients to help in the fight against superbug MRSA.
Mark Wilson, matron on the intensive care unit at Burnley General Hospital, came up with the strapline "multi-resistant staff", a variation on the initials MRSA.
It will feature on posters designed to be a new way of getting the message out to staff, patients and visitors who are urged to wash their hands to combat the infection.
Mr Wilson, who lives in the Pike Hill area of Burnley, said: "I think this is a really important campaign and I'm very happy to support it if it promotes greater awareness of good hand hygiene.
"I was really pleased to win the competition as the standard of entries was so high. I've never entered a competition before and was encouraged by my wife who liked my idea."
The poster is part of the Department of Health's on-going Cleanyourhands campaign launched to combat MRSA and other hospital acquired infections.
