YOUNG American Danny Karbassiyoon is determined to finally kick-start his career in England at Burnley.
The former Arsenal striker, who has still only made a handful of senior appearances in this country, scored his first goal for the Clarets in a reserve team outing last week to put a nightmare 2005 behind him.
Karbasiyoon, 21, has yet to start a first team game for the Clarets following an injury-hit start that wrecked his pre-season after his free transfer move from Highbury last summer.
The 21-year-old has been limited to just 55 minutes of bit-part, first team action all season, with appearances as a substitute against Aston Villa in the Carling Cup and then in Championship games against Leeds United, Crewe Alexandra, Sheffield Wednesday and Preston North End.
And after making just one start for the Gunners and four more on loan at Ipswich Town last season, the 22-year-old Virginian is now looking for an opportunity to break through in the final 12 games of the Championship campaign and cement his position as a valuable squad member in the second and final year of his Turf Moor contract.
Boss Steve Cotterill this week revealed that his whole squad are now playing for their futures at Turf Moor, despite Graham Branch being the only senior player out of contract this summer.
And Karbassiyoon, who began his career in the States with Roanoke Star, said: "I am enjoying it here and I want to push on.
"I had a hip problem in pre-season and then the boss bought Jon Harley from Sheffield United. He is a terrific player and has pretty much tied up the left-sided position, but I feel I can learn a lot from him.
"The left side of midfield is where I am most comfortable because I enjoy the attacking side of the game. But I'll play where I'm needed because for me, it's about doing the best I can at this club and improving as a player."
Karbassyoon's next change to shine could come at Coventry City on Saturday, when the Clarets, refreshed after their latest 10-day break, go in search of their first away win since beating Luton Town at Kenilworth Road on November 5.
Supporters are reminded that the first trip to the Ricoh Arena is an all-ticket affair, with Burnley being allocated 2,102 seats at the Sky Blues' brand new stadium.
Tickets, priced are £21 (adults), £11 (senior citizens), £11 on production of an NUS card and £8 (U16s), are currently on sale.
They can be bought either from the Turf Moor ticket office, by calling 0870 443 1914.
