Electro-pop pioneer Gary Numan is gearing up to release his first new studio album in over five years, and he's following it up with a tour that calls at Preston on April 22.
It's over a quarter of a century since Numan released his most celebrated work - number one hits Are Friends Electric and Cars - but his cultural relevance is still strong, and he's now sold over 10 million albums worldwide.
Recently, he's enjoyed a resurgence, with pop acts like Basement Jaxx and Sugababes sampling him and bands like The Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson proclaiming how much Numan has influenced their sound.
New album Jagged is said to be one of Numan's heaviest and most electronic albums of his career and will be released on March 13.
He's then heading out on the road for a 15-date UK tour, which will call at three north west venues - Liverpool Academy, Manchester Academy and Preston's 53 Degrees.
Gary Numan plays 53 Degrees in Preston on Saturday, April 22. Tickets are £17.
