MORE than 100 pensioners have signed a petition campaigning for buses to be re-routed down their road after timetable changes left them facing longer walks.
Olwyn Fish, of Branch Road, Lower Darwen said her road was now missed out altogether preventing the elderly from using the service.
She said older people and the disabled could not walk to Duchess Street, for the bus to Darwen, or Higher Croft Road, for the Blackburn bus.
The 66-year-old has sent off her petition to Blackburn Transport urging bosses to re-think the changes made to a number of routes last month.
She said: "I know these streets are not far from where we live but those who have any problem with mobility need the bus to be as close as possible.
"We are annoyed because the residents were not consulted and it is not suitable to miss this particular road out. They have not even tried to listen to the people who use the service.
"I have tried to contact the company but I am not getting very far. I don't know what to do to get something done about it. This has had a terrible effect on the people who live here. We need to stand up to these decisions."
Michael Morton managing director at Blackburn Transport said: "From our research when planning the new routes it showed that we didn't pick up many people along that road.
"But now that it has been brought to our attention then we will certainly look into the matter."
