THREE yobs have been hit in the pocket after a police investigation into a "mini crime spree" in the Greensnook area of Bacup.

The trio, one aged 11 and two aged 14, have each received £40 Fixed Penalty Notices for Disorder.

A further three youths and their parents have received warnings.

Police believe the three youths were responsible for at least 10 incidents ranging from egg throwing to the smashing of plant pots.

PC Robert Thomas, of Bacup Police said: "Criminal damage is a serious offence. It causes a great deal of distress to those affected by it and makes people living in our communities feel unsafe.

"We are determined to tackle the issue. All reported incidents of criminal damage will be looked into and where there is clear evidence of offences, action will be taken.

"What form that action takes will very much depend on the evidence and the offence, but it could range from a Fixed Penalty Notice to a criminal conviction and custodial sentence.

"Young people would be wise to remember this before they go out damaging other people's property. We will bring offenders to justice."

PC Thomas urged people to have the confidence to come forward and give names of offenders to the police.

He added: "Without support from the public, we may not have been able to detect these offences and put a stop to the youths' mini crime spree.

"With this in mind, I would urge anyone with names of other offenders to come forward."
